Invalid URLs on Offers
There would appear to be a problem with offers URLs for at least a few of AWIN's merchants (I've deleted quite a few over the last week or so) with House of Fraser being the latest merchant with a number of their current offers having invalid URLs. Would normally try to watch this to see if there was a pattern is but it's time consuming and I'm basically winding down for a long holiday starting late next week so I thought I should at least flag up what could be a potential problem.

RE: Invalid URLs on Offers
Thanks for pointing that out, if you spot any more can you just paste the invalid url here or leave it in pending for me to take a look at.
Ah, I see when you said you had deleted them, you just deleted them from your own site and left them on iCodes??

Anyway, this gives me chance to look into whats causing it.
Just looked at 'all added offers' and the reason is clear as day, the deeplink is just...

Code:
NewOffers-_-Offer1Womens-_-Link1

instead of..

Code:
http%3A%2F%2Fwww.houseoffraser.co.uk%2FNewOffers-_-Offer1Womens-_-Link1

They didn't get on to my site and I left them on iCodes for you to look at.

RE: Invalid URLs on Offers
I've edited those House of Fraser, if you can remember any others please let me know.

It would have been much better though if i'd been informed whilst they were in pending, before they got in everyones feeds, and not after x amount of weeks.

I'll see if I can find the issue.
I've found the cause..

We get the deeplink from awin links by splitting it AFTER &p= (or p%3d if encoded)

On those links which don't work it's because the merchant also has p%3d in their links, so it's splitting it at the wrong place.

We will have to check for &p=http or p%3dhttp to ensure its split at the correct place all the time.

RE: Invalid URLs on Offers
Lee, unfortunately I don't know if they have invalid links when they are in pending, I only know when they hit my site. I'm not even aware of a means to check for invalid links when they are in pending - is there a way to do that?

RE: Invalid URLs on Offers
Until I check the coding to see what the 'Merchant' name uses when clicked from pending, the best way to check is to press 'Enter' and look at the deeplink being using, if it's missing the http... then the chances are it's wrong. (unless it's a Link ID in the deeplink box, in that case it's fine)

RE: Invalid URLs on Offers
Hi Lee,

Just for the record I only get 7 days to approve/correct ads imported to my pending otherwise they are automatically deleted and that applies to most that have been identified as having problems such as an invalid url i.e. I dont generally look at them – tempus fugit etc..

The first of the following links was imported today from iCodes and which failed. The second is an adjusted link that was added to my website. I've no idea why the first link from iCodes failed but if as you ask, when I get back from my holiday (14 day Cruise in the Caribbean Cruise and then a week exploring Florida, the highlight of which as far as my wife is concerned is Harry Potter World lol) I will endeavour to post a more examples.

RE: Invalid URLs on Offers
The reason the house of fraser links didn't work was because the links were not formed correctly, this isn't the case for those links.

I'm only interested in links which are not formed correctly as that would be an issue at our end, I can't take responsibility for pages not found once resolved to the merhants site as that is an issue with the merchant.

RE: Invalid URLs on Offers
There is a problem with the pending codes and offers created at the Awin end, by incompetent form filling, a lot of which I chase to find them, if I can't find the answer, I trash them. The House of Fraser is one that I wouldn't necessarily have seen.

Another problem has been highlighted on Performancein, where they are being re-directed to https.. rather than http, I would question whether they are trackable. I have had no sales this month!
